The technology of autonomous instruments has matured tremendously in the past few decades. Autonomous instruments are especially important in an environment as difficult to access as the ocean. For this reason, the course will be devoted to an overview of the main categories of autonomous instruments, so that students can realize the current possibilities currently offered in this field. Theoretical lectures will be coupled with data processing exercises.
Students will become familiar with the most widely used autonomous oceanographic instruments in order to be able to use them and/or their data in their current and future research activities.
