This is the introduction module of the course "Ship-based training initiatives in marine-related sciences". This module provides essential theoretical knowledge and foundational skills required for ship-based training in marine-related sciences. Participants will gain an understanding of basic offshore safety, oceanographic instruments, and data processing techniques. This course is designed to prepare technical-scientific personnel for effective engagement in subsequent hands-on training aboard oceanographic vessels.
At the end of this course, participants will be able to identify and describe key oceanographic instruments, explain fundamental sampling techniques, apply basic data quality control principles, perform basic data analysis and visualization.
